Beautiful home cooked food deserves to be beautifully presented.
My handmade cutting boards and serving boards are perfect for preparing food and serving straight to the table. A good cutting board belongs in every kitchen. If you enjoy cooking and entertaining guests on a regular basis, you may want to have multiple boards for cutting, cheese tasting, pizzas, hors d'oeuvres, wine tasting and dessert displays.

Experience unique mekdesigner Boards 

Each piece of wood is different in grain and color, even if the wood is the same species. This makes all our boards unique, in the sense that no 2 boards are the same, where possible all Timber is reclaimed, and cut to achieve the greatest yeild, some pieces are thin some are thicker.
The main Timbers used are, NZ Native's, Rimu, Matai, Rewa Rewa, West Coast Beech, Birch, Kahikatea- White Pine, Kauri, South Island Walnut and Cypress.
We also use imported Exotic Timbers for a special appeal, these are, Tasmainian Ash, American Oak, Mahogony on occassions, Purple Heart, Kwila and Jarrah.  
 

Board Finish

All boards are soaked in FDA approved food safe Pure Tung Oil 1st and left to soak for 6 hrs, this is then buffed off, and repeated, then the Board Butter is applied and again left for 3-4 hours and buffed off, 3 more coats are applied for the final finish. Board butter is made from FDA approved, Coconut Oil and Mineral Oil, added to melted pure Bee's Wax to create a smooth butter like polish.

                           Caring for your Boards 

When purchasing an Mekdesign Board, the first thing after unwrapping, and admiring your Board, is to use a soft cloth, and rub a coat of Board butter over your board, leave this for 2-3 hours and polish off. After using your Board, wipe down with a damp soft cloth, and dry off.

 DO NOT

Put your Board in the microwave.
Put your Board in a dishwasher.
Leave your Board sitting on a hot oven top.
Put your board in a sink of water.
All of these will damage the Board.
Rule of thumb, Polish your board once a day for a week, once a week for a month and monthly thereafter. I say, apply a coat after every use and leave for 2-3 hours, then polish off.  Your Board should last for years to come.   

Polishing Wax

All Boards sold will receive a small container of my own brand polishing wax free of charge, this will last approx 6 months. These can also be bought in larger containers for approx $5-7 each, and will last for several years.
We also have Cheese Board utensils, a set of 4 which can be bought for $8.00 per set.
